A very pleasant, late Summer weekend in Turin!
September 29, 2014Turin is less than three hours from the chalet via the breathtaking scenery surrounding the Mont Blanc Tunnel. The weather forecast for last weekend was great so we decided to decamp for a short break since we’d never visited before. The centre of the city is truly beautiful – impressive buildings, palaces and churches, many with stunning Renaissance architecture. There are many fantastic cafes, bars and restaurants as well and all are more reasonably priced in comparison to the Alps!!
It also gave Alex and I the opportunity to take in a top class, football match. Torino were entertaining Fiorentina in the Italian, Serie A and there is a ‘Special Relationship’ between the two sets of fans so the atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. This was helped by the temperatures being in the mid to late 20’s C, despite it being the last weekend in September. It was a good game, close – finishing 1:1.
