January ’15 – And then the snow just wouldn’t stop falling!!
February 3, 2015Old and new friends visited this month. Paul Keech and the boys plus Kath & John Sherry (please send us a pic or two so we can include) returned for their annual visits. Mark Preston and his family and Alan Crowe – all good skiers were new visitors to our homely, comfortable chalet. Then during the last week of January the heaven’s opened and the snow didn’t stop falling!! It snowed virtually every day for 10 days – putting well over 100 cms down in the village. We’d never known anything like it!
Conditions in the Portes du Soleil will now be fantastic for the remainder of the season.
- Alan, Stewart, Paul, Graham and Paul (Keech) posing for the traditional photo as part of their annual PDS (circuit) pilgrimage.
- Alan plus authentic cowbells in the traditional Swiss Buvette on the way down to Morgins.
- All the boys outside said Buvette. It was a butiful day and we did find some fresh powder in Switz!
- An occasional one with the chalet/ ski host in! It was another magic day, guys – great lunch too at our favourits spot – Cafe des Sports, Morgins!
- Just a GREAT shot of Les Gets with cloud nestling down the valley. (Taken from a run we only use infrequently as a short cut – we were only on it due to a lack of snow).
- Mark (Preston), Caroline, Georgina and Charlie on Super Morzine. Yep, I said we’d get above the cloud that day!
- The family looking on top of the world well the Arare in Avoriaz anyway!
- Then some serious snow arrived for the second time this Winter!!
- And, the snow just kept falling………
- ……… and falling. More snow than we’ve ever seen in 15 years or more, living and being around Morzine.
- Then a new hero arrived – Alan Crowe! We were supposed to be having the weekend off but he pleaded to come so he could ski ‘La Poudreuse’. We just couldnt say no. Fantastic skier and a real character – he always wanted one last run through the powder and was happy to buy both tired ski hosts/ hostesses a drink or two. We all had a ball in just fantastic conditions!!
- Finally, the sun came out. Nantaux looking more magic than ever from the chalet!
- And, when the sun comes out and you’ve had a great day’s skiing in glorious powder, a few beers are in order. Some would say tis what skiing is all about!!
