Mid February – Finally, the temperatures warmed up!
March 4, 2012Mid and late Feb we had many repeat guests arriving at the chalet. It is one of the best things about running a small ski business, it’s like greeting old friends each Winter. They did bring some of their own friends with them and other new guests arrived as well. And luckily the temperatures got warmer – making the skiing just fantastic!!
- Can’t believe we’ve never been to this restaurant before. Beautiful and oldy-worldy inside, natural sun trap on the terrace and fantastic grill outside. It’s half way down the Blue run (Vorrochons I think?) in the La Turche sector by the old, private drag lift. Everyone had a great time after an interesting entry to the restaurant by some of the girls. Glass of wine in the deck chairs followed by a sumptuous lunch. Despite being a bit expensive we didn’t want to leave. Finally, a rival for the Cafe des Sports in Morgins I feel.
- The girls were new to the chalet but settled in fantastically and had a few days great skiing in the sunshine!! A marvelous rapport and repartit developed with our other guests. Great entertainment all round.
- Of course, the Tsar went off piste!! Tricky early morning skiing (due to ski host mis-judging under foot conditions) was followed by this fine run before lunch allowing said host to redeem himself. Perfect Spring snow at the top, with softer snow and beautiful bumps – both perfectly skiable lower down; even some powder was still found in parts!
- Alex, Tsar of Wales joins the guys for a morning’s skiing in the Sun. That’s Europe’s largest mountain in the background.
- Fantastic views from here – Morzine below and on a clear day you can see all the way to Lake Geneva. Honest!! You can see the Jura mountains (other side of Geneva – 80kms away at far end of valley).
- We just had so much fun that morning!! I think most people like the solitude of this run. There’s always a good lunch at the ‘Cafe des Sports’.
- Off piste – where is everyone? It is a great route down to Morgins, snow is usually good and perfectly skiable.
- Matthew and Kevin also repeat guests encourage the group to go skiing in Switzerland. A great day was had doing the PDS circuit.
- Beautiful sunshine, lovely slope, no-one around and great views. Morzine is in the valley below (just in the distance) and La Cote D’Arbroz beyond.
- Alison and Graham brought their friends with them to Chalet Margaritka. There was no doubt Janet and Nigel had ski’d a fair bit – many resorts infact. They liked to go off the beaten track – well I think they did!
